As you might know, Thanksgiving is one of the most celebrated festivals in The United States. Every person in the family is generally present for the Thanksgiving dinner. Making dinner for this occasion can be challenging. Usually, the dinner consists of fall vegetables, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie and roasted turkey. The latter is the one that everyone looks forward.
Roast turkey has been a part of the Thanksgiving dinner for as long as anyone can remember. If prepared appropriately, it can be the tastiest dish you could have ever tasted. The process of making this delicacy is a bit complicated, but the result is the satisfaction of the entire family. Worth putting in some effort, isn’t it?
Well, I have mentioned my recipe and the list of essential ingredients below.

One turkey approximately 14 to 15 pounds.
½ a gallon of water.
Two tablespoons of unsalted butter to coat the turkey.
Two tablespoons of peppercorns.
Two gallons of ice water. Half the water should be ice.
½ cup of light brown sugar.
Two cups of kosher salt.
Directions for Brining:
Before starting the roasting, the turkey needs to brine. Here is how you can do it.
Mix salt and brown sugar in half a gallon of water in a bowl and bring to boil.
Remove bowl from heat and put its contents in a five-gallon bucket.
Add ice water.
Remove the giblets and neck from the turkey and put it in the bucket.
If the turkey is not covered entirely, add more water.
Keep the bucket in a cold place and leave it for 24 hours.
Procedure for Roasting:
Preheat your oven to approximately 500 degrees.
Roasting must be done at the lowest possible level in the oven.
Place the drumstick, the side facing down, in a roasting tray.
Make slots to allow the drippings to fall into a pan.
Use a basting tool to obtain drippings from the pan.
Put the turkey in the oven.
After approximately half an hour, reduce heat to 350 degrees.
Remove the turkey from the oven and cover its breast with aluminium foil.
For better results, cook the turkey stuffing outside its body.
Check the internal temperature of the bird with a food thermometer.
The minimum internal temperature should be 161 degrees.
The temperature of the thigh should approximately be 180 degrees.
The total roasting time for an entire turkey would be approximately 2 ½ hours.
Leave the bird standing for about 20 minutes before carving it.
